Guest Review in Disney World: Mia Moda Facile Stroller
The Mia Moda Facile Umbrella Stroller and Buggyguard Stroller Lock
A Review by Erin M. Sforza
Our family’s recent trip to Disneyworld was quite a milestone. It was the first time we were taking our 9 month old daughter to meet Mickey and Winnie the Pooh, and we are first time parents as well! We did a lot of research while trying to figure out which umbrella stroller to purchase for the trip, safety being the first priority of course, but there were so many other factors. We decided the the Mia Moda Facile Umbrella Stroller was the right choice for us. We also purchased a Buggyguard Stroller Lock (the Panda Bear) to keep our investment a little bit safer.
The Buggyguard stroller lock was amazing! It functioned exactly the way it was supposed to, locking the stroller’s wheels so that you couldn’t roll it away and making it really difficult for someone to walk off with our stroller without anyone noticing they had to carry a fully open stroller that wasn’t theirs. You can also use it to secure other items to your stroller, or lock it securely to a gate or fence, but Disney castmembers informed us that we were not allowed to lock the stroller to the gates in case they needed to be moved, and our lock would be cut if we did, but we did try that option out to see if it worked and it really secured the stroller well. It has a three number combination lock that you set yourself, and it’s incredibly easy to set or reset. Buggyguard makes several different animal themed locks that range in price from $14 – $25 depending on the animal you choose and where you purchase it. We purchased the Panda Bear lock at Amazon.com for about $16.00 with shipping, and it is another product I would recommend for anyone concerned about leaving their stroller while having fun on the attractions.
The Mia Moda Facile comes in a range of colors, but the red was our favorite because it could be used for both boys and girls (just in case our next little one is a boy!). The Facile also had some great features that a lot of the other umbrella strollers on the market didn’t, including an adjustable and removable canopy which actually can be pulled all the way over the child in the stroller and has a small window they can see out of. This was great to keep our daughter covered from rain as well as the heat of the sun while walking through the parks. The Facile also has a mesh storage basket as well which held mine and my husband’s sweatshirts, and a couple bottles of water which was really great. The best feature by far was the 4-point seat recline. The seat doesn’t fully recline, but it reclined enough that our daughter was comfortable while sleeping in the stroller; she actually slept for about an hour allowing my husband and I to have dinner together in Pecos Bill’s Café, which is not exactly the quietest spot so we were pleased and surprised. The stroller handles incredibly well. The front wheels swiveled and turned just as well as our larger Chicco Travel System that we have at home, and you can also lock the swivel feature on it. It is a bit heavier than most of the strollers on the market at 16.5 pounds, but we hardly noticed the weight unless we were carrying it to check at the gate in a gate check bag. It retails for about $60.00 depending on where you purchase it from, so it also wasn’t cost-restrictive for us. Overall we were really pleased at the way it navigated some of the tighter spaces in the ever busy Magic Kingdom, loved its extra features and were happy that we made a solid investment for our future kids as well and I would highly recommend it.
